The only time I remember Marvin sitting up in bed in the middle of the night to write down his dream. It usually could wait until morning - and sometimes he'd remember a dream days later.
This time it was too vivid and important.
In the dream he was the moon, looking at his own reflection in a pool in the middle of a forest. As extraordinary as that is by itself, the important story was that the trees and animals all depended upon this pool for survival.

The first version of this was done entirely from stencils because we lived in a tiny apartment, and Marvin had no press. We had only just moved to Milwaukee, and he was working as a sabatical replacement for a life-drawing instructor at the Milwaukee School of Art and Design.

When he procured a press he redid Moon Pool in increments, until the final version is entirely linocut. The illusion of depth is amazing - it's hard to see, but there are even fish under the water.

Dimensional linocut
Framed only 36" x 36"

Sorry, Sold Out! However, I found the elements needed to make one - talk me into it!
